“September 12th 2014 was the day the future I had planned and looked forward to disappeared with the words ‘you have multiple sclerosis’ ”.
MS is an auto-immune disease where the body’s
immune system turns on itself attacking the myelin sheath which protects the nerves.
Lesions form in the brain and spinal cord meaning the signals from the brain are unable to be transmitted to the rest of the body.
There is no cure for MS but there is hope with HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant). This is the only existing scientifically proven treatment that halts progression of this awful debilitating disease.
The world centre of excellence is Clinica Ruiz, Puebla, Mexico. I hope, with the love and support of friends, family and others that I may never know, I will be able to raise the £60,000 needed to receive the chemo/stem cell transplant in early 2018.
For myself and my two precious daughters this will mean the future I now only dream about, can become a reality.
I will never be able to express enough gratitude for the support and kindness shown to me already. All I can say is, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love; Louise Canning (formerly Leck) xx
